What is a referendum?
A referendum is a special kind of voting, in which voters respond to one idea. Depending on the type of referendum, the government will change the law based on the results.
One recent example of a referendum is “Brexit”, when the United Kingdom (England) decided to leave the European Union.
The Cobham Juicie Referendum will ask voters (you) to decide which option is best, and then Mr Norgate will back the new rule for the rest of 2023. You will vote via online ballot on Thursday, 26 October, and the new rule will start on Monday 30 October.
The voting options are:
Puneke Campaign (Green)
Wrapper Buy Back Scheme
Juicies and Moosie prices will be raised by $0.50. For every wrapper returned to the canteen monitor, students will receive $0.50.
Kei Campaign (Yellow)
Hapori Wrapper Competition
Wrappers will be collected in designated Hapori bins and counted each week. The Hapori that collects the most wrappers will win the Wrapper Competition, and will win their choice of non-uniform day, games afternoon (e.g waterfight), free time, or movie afternoon.
Takere Campaign (Purple)
Class Wrapper Collection
Wrappers are collected in each class after lunch. The class that collects the most wrappers will win their choice of non-uniform day, free time, or movie afternoon.
