From The Principal’s Desk

Week 8, Term 4, 2019

Kia Ora, Talofa Lava and warm greetings,

Welcome to this final edition of our school newsletter for 2019. The year, and particularly this last term seems to have flown by. The students who joined us at the beginning of 2018 as nervous Year 7’s are off to high school in a matter of weeks, and our current Year 7’s are ready to assume the senior role in the school next year.

As we near the end of the year I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have been part of Cobham this year. 2019 has been another busy and productive year for the staff and students of Cobham Intermediate School. I am continually amazed at the wide variety of learning experiences and opportunities that are available to our students and it is always pleasing to see our students embedding the 3RP@C in their learning.

To our students – you are fantastic. Teachers love working at Cobham Intermediate because of you! You are amazing and our entire staff team have the privilege of working with you and watching you identify passions, grow as people and overcome challenges – all important skills to have under your belt for your next educational journey.

Thank you to our dedicated staff team. Our leaders and teachers know the students whose learning and achievement needs to be accelerated, they respond effectively to the strengths, needs and interests of each child, regularly evaluate how well teaching is working for these children, act on what they know works well for each child, build teacher capability effectively to achieve outcomes for all children. Thanks team.

To our wonderful PTA – thank you. An incredible group of parents committed to supporting our school in so many ways. We’ve appreciated your support and commitment this year and I thank you for taking the time to be involved. Thank you also to all parents who have assisted with or contributed to any of the PTA activities.

Thank you to the large number of parents who support Cobham in so many ways – some of you are highly visible while others quietly work in the background to ease the load of the classroom teacher. We appreciate all your support and your commitment to making Cobham such a special place.

Specifically to those families that are finishing your association with Cobham Intermediate – thank you. For some of you one year, others two and for those with much longer associations – we thank you for your support, your transport, your emails, support with camps, sports, fundraisers your questions and challenges. Your questions and challenges can be just that, challenging, but make us a better school. Moreover, we appreciate your loyalty and on reflection, we entrust your decision to choose Cobham Intermediate for your family was the correct one.

2020 promises so much for us all at Cobham and to those returning we look forward to providing a range of opportunities for your child in a wonderful specialist environment. To our Year 8 students leaving, we wish you all the best at your next educational stop. We trust your Cobham experience has prepared you well for your future and we will farewell you in the coming days.

Please be aware that all Year 8 Google Accounts will be deleted on the morning of 17 December. It is not possible to recover data from deleted accounts. Please ensure Year 8 students have backed up any essential information prior to that date. Please also download copies of your child’s school reports as you will no longer be able to access these after this date. Year 7 accounts will not be impacted.
