Students’ exhibits impress the judges.
Those of you who were able to visit the Science Fair would no doubt have been impressed by the depth of investigative skills and processes carried out by students, as they sort to develop their hypothesis and seek solutions to the problems they had identified. The presentation of the exhibits was of a high standard and the range of topics was wide and varied.
The Fair provides a purpose for students to learn correct scientific research procedures and to cover the Science Curriculum strand, Investigating Science. Those students who opt to enter the Technology section are designing new and innovative products following the design process. Thank you to the class teachers for supporting students with their projects.
Thank you to my team of judges – Jacinta Burton, Tony Lane and Tom Mould for their work. This year we also had two ex Cobham students, now Year 13 at Burnside High School join the judging panel. A number of exhibits have been awarded 1st prize and the exhibitors will have their work on display at the Canterbury/ Westland Science Fair on Saturday 21 September.
Comments from the judges
Mr Lane- The ideas presented were extremely innovative and it was apparent that a lot of the exhibitors gave a lot of thought to their projects. It was a pleasure to judge.
Miss Burton – “ Congratulations to all of the students on your hard work and effort. I enjoyed seeing so many creative and unique ideas!”
Mr Mould – “ I was impressed with the range of ideas in the Technology section and congratulate all the exhibitors on their efforts.”
Mrs Bowker- “I continue to be in awe of the work students put in and the innovative ideas they have come up with.”
Below is a list of those awarded prizes. Congratulations to them and also to all who put so much effort into making the fair a celebration of Science at Cobham.
