Performing Arts

We provide numerous opportunities for students to either discover a passion or to excel in performing arts. The specialist performing arts teachers guide multiple dance groups, we enter the regional Jump Jam competition, over 80 students are involved in the Show Quest extravaganza in May and we produce a major production every second year where up to 100 students are involved. In 2017 we performed Lion King and in 2019 we will be performing Madagascar.
We have a 125 strong Kapa Haka group who perform with distinction on a number of occasions throughout the year, including locally and at the Christchurch Cultural Festival.

2019 Production

The Musical Production is a biennial highlight at Cobham Intermediate! Past productions include High School Musical, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Students have the opportunity to display their singing, acting and dancing skills in a week of performances on stage. It is an extravaganza of musical theatre and is always thoroughly enjoyed by both audiences and those involved. There is usually a cast of around 90 students and there are opportunities for students to work on set design/backstage and in the sound and lighting departments.
